WELCOME TO NEW HAMPSHIRE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS

VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.  There are 43 VFW post in the state of New Hampshire.   You can use the Find a Post near you from National VFW Web Site by Clicking Here  or on this site by Clicking Here.

This is a a quick shout out from the NH Membership Chair desk to let everyone know that we have had a slow but successful start for the 1st Quarter of our membership year.  We have been getting out to places and showing that as an organization we are here to serve Veterans, their Family’s, and the Communities we live in; I have been to many events across the state and have reached to a multitude of veterans and seen many of you there.

Keep up the good work; the good fight isn’t over with 100% membership last year, as soon we received our accolades and pats on our back, we lost friends, family, and neighbors who were with us from the beginning but have gone on to serve with God.  To honor those who have gone on we must replace their numbers with Veterans who have served and yet to join our great organization, we must replenish our ranks and keep our numbers high so as to be heard in Washington DC so that the shoulders that built this great organization are not forgotten, the Veterans and their family’s that are here now are taken care of, and that the future Veterans of War don’t bear the burden of fighting for the benefits that have been earned by their service.

         With that being said, I would like to recognize and reward a member who has recruited/reinstated the most members for the 1st Quarter and wins $50.00 from our NH Department Commander – Chris Peirce, as put out in our 2019-2020 membership Program;

LEONARD PERKINS of Derry Memorial Post #1617 with 5 New Members.

I would be remiss if I did not recognize the runner up;
RUSSELL GORA of Hudson Memorial Post #5791 with 4 New Members.

Thank you and great job!

Denis Querrard

As the Chairman for our Commander's Special Project Chairman, I challenge EACH District to have a fundraising event, (meat raffle, dance, auction, etc.) for Chris's special project: A Whole House Emergency Generator.  The Generator will be installed in the New Hampshire House at the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

In addition, I challenge EVERY Post to hold a fundraiser for the Commanders Special Project.

YOU can make a difference in the lives of struggling military and veteran families at the VFW National Home for Children!

Once you plan the event let our Department Adjutant, Paul Lloyd know so he can send an e-mail blast to the membership so they may attend.

Have a good day!

Thank you.

Operation Care for Troops is gearing up for our November "Holiday Stockings" Packing Event for deployed military.  We expect to ship approximately 1200 to 1500 stockings.  As well as support Harbor Homes, Liberty House, and the VASH program.  However, our numbers are increasing as we just picked up two new units and expect this to continue with the holiday season coming.

We are in need of funds for shipping the packages.  It costs approximately $20 per box to ship.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please let me.  Thank you for all you do to support our Veterans.

Regards,
Deborah

DATE 1-31 OCTOBER 2019  NATIONAL COMMANDERS MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE

***************************************************************************************************************************************************
Date:  October 1 to 15, 2019 Liberty House Case Manager Job Opening.

 LIBERTY HOUSE CASE MANAGER

We serve two groups of Veterans. First, we serve up to ten homeless Veterans who are in recovery in our sober transitional house. Since 2004, we have helped over 330 homeless Veteran residents. Second, each month we have approximately 170 visits from struggling and/or homeless Veterans in need of food, clothing, toiletries, camping gear, bus passes, gas cards, information and referrals.

We do not accept any state and/or federal funding because we believe strongly in our behavioral expectations (i.e., no alcohol/drug use, fully participate in recovery work, maintain meaningful employment, etc.). If we accepted the state and/or federal funding we could not maintain our behavioral expectation. We follow a 4-Step Model:

  1. Recovery (Intensive Outpatient Program at local provider)
  2. Mental/Physical Wellness
  3. Meaningful Employment
  4. Transition to Independent Living

Case Manager:

The case manager must be fully invested in the mission of Liberty House. He/she provides case management to Liberty House residents. Assists clients in achieving self-sufficiency through advocacy, coaching, resource referrals, and assistance with meaningful job placement and quality living arrangements. Connects with and maintains strong relationships with outside stakeholders. The case manager also helps with our food/clothing pantry and fundraising events. The case manager will perform other duties as directed.

  • $40,000 to $50,000 salaried position
  • Some fundraising assistance
  • Caseload of up to 10 residents
  • Meet with each resident at least weekly
  • Collaboratively establish goals and work with residents as they progress through our 4-Step Model
  • Drug testing
  • Provide information and referrals
  • Assist in Pantry
  • Must be a team-focused person

Warmest Regards,

Jeff
